Yesterday, Our group SFAC of Illinois met with the bill's sponsor, Bob Rita of the 28th district, and faced the proponents of this bill head-on. Despite our efforts, the odds are stacked against us. The bill passed out of committee next to be voted on in the House, and its passage seems likely without a significant pushback from our community.

Of the roughly 8.9 million e-cigarette products in the PMTA process, more than 8.6 million have been denied to date. All products granted FDA authorization so far are Big Tobacco-owned.
In one ruling of many, The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled that the FDA acted “arbitrarily and capriciously” in rejecting the premarket tobacco product applications (PMTA). More than 30 companies have taken legal action to dispute FDA denials.
