CBD Oil Vape Pens: What You Need to Know Before Buying

CBD Oil Vape Pens: What You Need to Know Before Buying

Vaping has quickly become one of the most successful smoking cessation developments in recent years. Vape pens can include a variety of e-liquids that contain cannabis, nicotine, and even CBD. CBD, or cannabidiol, is the second most prevalent component in cannabis and hemp plants.

CBD has been found to have numerous beneficial effects for its users, including strong anti-inflammatory properties, digestive benefits, and is known to help with anxiety, among many others. In order to reap the benefits of CBD you are seeking, you will need to consume it the right way.

There are a few ways of doing so, including edibles, transdermally with skin creams, balms, lotions and patches, taking droplets from tinctures under your tongue or placing a dose in your food/drinks, or by vaping. Vaping CBD in particular is a unique way of consumption that is especially enjoyable for users given the instant absorption into the bloodstream through the lungs, plus it is one of the most effective ways of using CBD!

Vaping CBD is one of the most popular and efficient ways of consuming your CBD for two reasons. One, its onset time is the lowest. Two, it has the highest absorption rate. Now you might be wondering how to get your hands on some?

That’s where our CBD oil vape pens come into play. At Upper Limits Midwest, we know just how important and helpful CBD can be for our customers, so we proudly supply all of the aforementioned means of consuming CBD, and all the accessories you may need to consume via your preferred method. We also have an amazing staff ready to answer your questions anytime.

There is a lot of information that you should be aware of before you begin using CBD oil vape pens. Therefore, here are some common questions you need to answer first before purchasing and using.

What Dosage Do I Need?

This is one of the most important questions you can get answered for determining which CBD oil vape pen will be right for you. There are several dosage options available for CBD e-liquids, which are then placed into the vape pen tank or cartomizer. Some brands do the work for you offering pre-filled carts, tanks and disposables.

The toughest part about purchasing your CBD oil pen for vaping is figuring out how much CBD is right for you. To figure out your dosage, it might depend more so on your weight than anything else. If you are 80-150 pounds, you’ll need 12mg, 15mg, or 18mg for a low, medium, or high amount respectively.

Are you 151-240 pounds? Then consider 18mg, 22.5mg, or 27mg. And lastly, if you are 240 pounds or more, you should shoot for 22.5mg, 30mg, or 45mg.

Like everything else in this world, tolerance also plays a factor. CBD dosage is not a one size fits all product and there are a lot of variables. Please note that the above is a recommended starting point and you can adjust dosage as you see fit knowing how you did with the recommended dosage to start.

*We always recommend speaking with your health care professional or doctor when you start taking any CBD.

Which CBD Products Are Best for Vaping?

There are a few options for CBD products available on the market. However, not all are created equal. For that reason, you should not use CBD tinctures in your vape, as they are specifically created for ingestion only. This is important to note. Always follow consumption recommendations from the manufacturer.

Even though one type of CBD product is not suitable for vaping, there are three others that are: CBD cartridges, high CBD hemp strains (flower), concentrate (wax, shatter, oil, crumble) and CBD vape juices and e-liquids.

CBD Vape Juice

CBD vape juice and e-liquids are typically the most common option to use in a vape. They’re also referred to as “CBD oil,” but they don’t actually contain any oil. You should not ever vape any CBD that uses a carrier oil like MCT, so make sure the label mentions something about vaping before trying it.

If you do use CBD tincture oil in your vape, you could clog or even ruin your vape pen. More importantly, the possibility of damaging your lungs, worsening your health. We certainly do not want that. There are other CBD products that are multi-purpose and they will be clearly labeled.

CBD Cartridges

These cartridges are pre-filled with CBD e liquids / e-juice or CBD concentrate. Using CBD cartridges is one of the easiest ways of vaping, as they connect to a standard 510 battery. They are discreet, and easy to carry and use and are usually very potent without producing a lot of vapor.

CBD Strains of High Potency (Flowers)

Another popular option is dried CBD flower, which is powerful and potent. These usually test around 12 to 25 percent of CBD and are usually full of other helpful cannabinoids. Using this product to vape requires a specific vaporizer that is made for dry herb specifically, While vaping flower is usually the second strongest method of absorption (first being vaping concentrates), the benefits of vaping flower include the ability to intake more cannabinoids than just CBD, increasing the overall benefits to your body.

How Much CBD is in Every Vape Puff?

There is no one definite answer to this question, unfortunately. This is because it is completely dependent on the user variables, including their lung capacity, tolerance, product potency and so on.

Some vape mods have a puff counter, which is extremely convenient. That way, you can figure it out on your own. However, there is a specific rough calculation that you could use instead to get a general idea of CBD dosage in each puff you take.

In order to figure this point out, you’ll have to do a bit of math (sorry, yes there is math involved). You will need to take the potency (total mg) of the CBD bottle. Next, you will take the size of the bottle (mL) and divide the strength (mg) by the total amount of mL in the package and you will get the strength in mg for each mL.

Once you have figured out the per mL strength, the last step is to find the capacity of the tank or cartomizer. Common tanks used usually hold anywhere from .5 mL to 5 mL.

You will then multiply the mg/mL by the mL tank capacity to get an approximate dosage per tank.

Example: 30ml bottle of CBD vape liquid with 1000 mg labeled, divide 1000 mg by 30 mL and you will get approximately 33 mg / mL. A 1 mL cartomizer or tank would therefore be 33mg. A 2 mL tank would be 66 mg and so on.

If you want to dive even further into dosage, you can count the number of puffs total you get from that full tank until empty then dividing the CBD capacity of that tank by the amount of puffs you took.
